Civic mobile app
Community Fridges is a mobile utility: map-based discovery, adding and editing locations, reports, alerts, and a Supabase backend for fast iteration.
OpenStreetMap helps users quickly find nearby community fridges.
Users can submit new places and correct existing data.
Supabase supports auth, database, and quick operational changes.
The challenge
The project was a mobile tool, not a simple informational website. It had to show fridge locations on a map, allow users to submit and correct places, support reports, and keep the data useful during periods of increased food waste.
Original scope
Client: Own Social ProjectTechnology: Flutter, Supabase, OpenStreetMap APIPlatforms: Android & iOS Project Overview The goal was to create a simple mobile tool that allows users to locate community fridges and share food in a safe and quick way – especially during periods of increased food waste, such as after holidays.
What We Did Developed a cross-platform mobile app using Flutter (Android & iOS) with a clean and intuitive interface Integrated a map with community fridge locations Enabled users to submit new locations and edit existing data Added functionality to report errors or missing fridges Built the backend on Supabase – fast, scalable, and serverless Implemented a notification and alert system Tech Stack QuickAlert + Custom UI – interactive alerts and forms Flutter – rapid development for Android and iOS Supabase…
The delivered solution
caseStudy.define({
project: 'Community Fridges',
focus: 'Flutter app with map, community data, and serverless backend',
outcome: 'A cross-platform app supporting a food-sharing initiative'
});
The product value is immediate: open the app, find a fridge, submit missing data, or report an issue without navigating through a heavy website.
CHDR built a cross-platform Flutter app with OpenStreetMap integration, Supabase backend, user submissions, edit/report flows, and notification mechanisms.
